ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY, NESHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, LAWRENCE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, INCLUDES A BRIEF HISTORY OF ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH. 2004 compiled by Dwight Copper, with Kevin R. McCreary, Digital Photography. St. Joseph Catholic Church was organized by the German Catholics of the area in 1888. In this church's cemetery, which is located on Wilmington Rd., lie a number of New Castle's prominent citizens, including the families of Canan, Flaherty, Fleckenstein, Green, Schweikert, etc., and Miss Margaret Henry, who founded the Margaret Henry Home for Orphans. Also here supposedly lies Frank Jongrass, who was the first man hanged in Lawrence County on April 26, 1898, but no tombstone marks his grave. Mr. Copper has compiled and organized the tombstone readings by sections and rows, adding newspaper clippings, photographs, a brief history of the church and a map sketch. Indexed.
