What began as a hobby to record the Mechling family tree developed into a business in our garage, equipped with a few antique pieces of machinery and tools. Our interest in genealogy led to collecting old county histories, and then to rebinding and restoring them. Our mutual need for genealogy research materials motivated us to assemble a repository of new and reprinted books devoted to Western Pennsylvania history and genealogy for other researchers, and then to publishing.

Our shop is a blend of modern technology and antique equipment. The latest software for design and layout, and state-of-the-art digital printers are an important part of our day-to-day operation. Yet a few vintage binding machines have proven to be invaluable throughout our binding processes. And when it comes to restoration, we use fine leathers and archival papers to make a product with old-fashioned quality that endures.
